Not only did people have to provide their names, addresses & phone numbers AND pre-register, people were advised to ensure they had identification to provide if asked.
This is to attend a public appearance, during an election with two candidates, where one of those is our very own Prime Minister??? Is this really happening in Canada?

From his lips, to our eyes & ears, Mr. Harper himself:
'You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society.'
- The Report newsmagazine
'These proposals included cries for billions of new money for social assistance in the name of child poverty and for more business subsidies in the name of cultural identity. In both cases I was sought out as a rare public figure to oppose such projects.'
- The Bulldog, National Citizens Coalition
'Canada is a Northern European welfare state in the worst sense of the term, and very proud of it.... In terms of the unemployed... don't feel particularly bad for many of these people. They don't feel bad about it themselves, as long as they're receiving generous social assistance and unemployment insurance.'
- Speech to the US Council for National Policy
'Fixed election dates prevent governments from calling snap elections for short-term political advantage. They level the playing field for all parties and the rules are clear for everybody.'
- CBC News
'The government is clear that it will not be seeking an early election. At any time Parliament can defeat the government and provoke an early election, if that is what the opposition irresponsibly chooses to do.'
- Hansard
Does Stephen Harper have a hidden agenda?

Naomi Klein: “It’s time to grow the hell up”
Briarpatch: It's time to fight the War on Error.
Excerpt:
“I think we need to be extremely wary of how a new Harper government would fit in as this (U.S.) crisis migrates to Canada.”
“It’s an important time for 800 people to gather,” she said, referring to the overflowing hall. “We can fall apart and look to leaders to save us, or we can rise to the occasion. We can regress or we can grow up – and it’s time to grow the hell up.”
Afterwards, people remained in the hall to discuss strategic voting in the federal election. Klein recommended a national coalition called VotePair, which has set up a vote-coordinating web site.
The site includes a ‘vote exchange’ system where voters can ‘trade’ Green, NDP and Liberal votes across the country, according to which ridings a particular vote will have the most impact in turning back Conservatives.
